Join Indian Army as an officer after 12th standard

There is the good career option for the student who wants to join Indian Army as an Officer after 12th standard.  The 12th standard student can join Indian Army as an Officer through NDA (National Defence Academy) or TES (Technical Entry Scheme).

What is NDA?

NDA (National Defence Academy) is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) which is the Join Service Academy of Indian Armed Forces, where the cadets of 3 sections – Army, Navy and Air Force train together for 3 years before they go on to pre-commissioning training.

How to join the NDA?

To join NDA, one must appear for NDA (National Defence Academy) written exam and SSB (Service Selection Board). One has to be clear both written exam and interview to join NDA.

You may apply for NDA exam through online mode. The selection process for NDA is of two parts. The first part is a written exam which is multiple-choice question bases on an OMR sheet.

Subject comes in NDA written exam are:-
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • English
  • General Knowledge

A candidate who clears the written exam qualifies for SSB interview.

SSB is based on GD, physical test, psychological test, medical test, etc. Who are qualifying in all the tests is sent for Indian Armed Force training which is of 3 years. After completing 3 years of NDA, candidates are sent to IMA (Indian Military Academy) for a 1-year course. After the successful training, the candidate is given the rank of Lieutenant.

What is TES (Technical Entry Scheme)?

Other than NDA, science students with Mathematics is join Indian Army through TES 10+2 entry scheme. Like NDA, it also applies online and the notification is published in many newspapers. Applicants have to apply through www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. The whole admission process is similar to NDA.
